SB and V zone activity

Today was Santa Barbara and Ventura zone activity at the Arroyo Verde Park in Ventura.  The forcast all week had been rain for Friday.  We really wanted to be able to do the hike and enjoy being outside.  There were a couple of down pours on Thursday.  The question was do we have faith or do we prepare for being inside the stake center?  Our prayers were answered in that it did not rain and it was a beautiful day. 

The Stewarts and Miles did the inspection of the cars in the park while we were hiking.

We focused on being led by the Spirit.  In this picture the companion told the blindfolded companion where to walk to avoid obstacles.

Look closely at the ankles.  The companions had to work in unity in navigating the trail with one blindfolded and their legs tied together.

The assistants handed out a card with a character as to who they were and also a character of who they were to find.  Once they found the person they sat down and began talking WITH them not to them.  One was a missionary.

SLO and SM zone activity

We met together with the San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria Zones on Tuesday.  We met at the Madonna trailhead.

Everyone received a bandana.

The popsicles were packed in dry ice for a day.  Hopefully Elder Garcia's lip will recover.

MLC -- Cinco de Mayo

These cinnamon rolls were made from a new recipe.  I didn't quite understand the instructions on cutting the rolls; therefore we had a batch that was cut to be 24 instead of 12. But it worked out having one large roll for each missionary and 24 extra. It seems that seconds need to be available. 

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo we had green chile egg casserole, cinnamon rolls; fruit, chocolate milk or juice were included. 

Parents may want to know about a couple of updates: no literature outside the missionary library is approved.  The council determined the mission would follow the direction in the white missionary handbook by focusing study on the standard works,  the approved missionary library,  and the Church magazines. 

Parents, please be aware that no instant messaging or chatting during email is authorized.

MLC was a revelatory experience as we shared thoughts and experiences about how we have been led by the Spirit in our lives. We are committed to following the Spirit. 

Just Serve with Ventura Stake

Saturday was the day for service for the America West and Northwest areas.

Since we live in the Ventura Stake we chose to do service with them.  They had provided two service projects -- clean up the equestrian center in Fillmore and upgrading the outside of the little school in Santa Paula.

The missionaries were invited to participate.

This table was about 12 feet long.  Our task was to scrape off all of the beige paint, sand the table, prime it, and paint it.  We found out that it makes the job much easier when one has the proper tools.  President and Sister Felix did not have the right tools and took much more time than another person who found a better tool.  It was great working together though.
