Cam and NB zone activity

Our last zone activity was with Camarillo English and Spanish and Newbury Park zones.
Our focus for the activities is to remind us that we need to be led by the Spirit as we find and teach.
We found saying "go over there"or "go straight"are not the best ways in being directed.  When you're blindfolded, where is over there?
It was a beautiful day and I loved the clouds.

This bag had the treat of fruit snacks.  The object was for Elder James to listen to the sound.  As it got louder, then he was going in the correct direction.  The sound was clapping; although two missionaries were chosen (without Elder James' knowledge) to distract him.  In the four different zone activities, that did affect the decision of where to go for some.

During this part of the hike there were no blindfolds so they could enjoy the scenery.

The Senior couples joined us.
By being tied to your companion and one being blindfolded, listening and working together in unity is a must.

This is the bandana that everyone received to use as a blindfold.  It was quite funny as we have many BYU fans and they thought we were handing out a University of Utah bandana.  It says Salvation University and
The Wise Still Seek Him.
After hiking we drove to the Newbury Park Stake Center where the cars were inspected and we had lunch and finished with our activities.

See if you can find your missionary.

The missionaries really enjoyed the EDPEP in finding and talking WITH them.

The popsicles got too cold and Elder Harper suffered from it. His tongue has recovered after a day.

There are different ways of receiving impressions.  The above activity used action, visual, and sound.
"Simon Says"focuses on listening not just acting.

TO and Simi

Alma 7:20  I perceive that it has been made known unto you, by the testimony of his word, that he cannot walk in crocked paths; neither doth he vary from that which he hath said; neither hath he a shadow of turning from the right to the left, or from that which is right to that which is wrong; therefore, his course is one eternal round.
Isaiah 30:21  And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
The first part of the hike in Wildwood on the Mesa trail.  The blindfolds went on and listening to the promptings began.

Sister Felix asked for six volunteers.  A sock with a small item was in each sock.  They were asked to tell everyone what was in the sock without looking -- they could only feel the object.  If they didn't know what was in it, they could describe how it felt and get help from the others.
The object of this experience was to help them recognize promptings from the Spirit.  If we are famliar with the Spirit and know what it feels like, we can easily recognize it.  If we have not had many experiences with the Spirit, we might not easily recognize it.

Elder & Sister Floyd and Sister and Elder Stewart are ready to inspect the cars.

Happy Birthday to Elder Harper, Elder Powell and
Elder Soubie.  They have birthdays in June.
The Assistants giving instruction for the EDPEP.
We leaned the importance of finding the right person and talking WITH them not TO them.
When they found the character they were looking for they sat down to talk WITH them and then share a gospel message.  They took turns being the missionary.
